Columbus Ohio Engagement Session | Creekside in Gahanna

Check out a video of myself talking about this engagement session.

Arielle and Nick’s engagement session was pretty unique. When I first talked to Arielle on the phone she mentioned that she is getting married in Hocking Hills at a new venue. I love Hocking Hills and knew that we had to get a few nature like photos to match the ones that fit their personality and their wedding. We started at Creekside to get some hiking like shots.

Arielle also mentioned that they like to go to festivals and use a LED hoop. It displays patterns, shapes, and hearts. Lighting them and having the hoop being bright enough was a little difficult but I was up for the challenge!

We started using the led hoop in the garage of Creekside. with some testing we got some great shots right off the bat. After Creekside we headed downtown. We also talked about their taste in electronic dance music and what concerts they have been to.

When we arrived downtown we found a dark enough spot for the LED hoop with the Columbus skyline in the background. Luckily we had a few helpers to walk around with the hoop. The resulting shots turned out great! Congratulations on your engagement Arielle and Nick!

Why have an engagement session?

The engagement session is one of the best ways to connect with your photographer. This is taken months before the wedding. You get to know how your photographer poses you as a couple before the big day.

This will lead to less stress on the wedding day. Most of the interaction is with you and your significant other not the camera. Most of my direction is “Hold hands and walk this direction”.

I want to capture the moments where he or she makes you laugh, picks you up, putting your foreheads together, or a kiss that was not planned. This is a time for you to have fun and jump into the air, see a sunset together and dress up a little. It does not hurt to get your hair done, buy a new outfit, and look your best. He could even put on a nice suit and have a romantic dinner afterwards.

You are only engaged this short period of time and you are going to be married for 50+ years.

My goal is to make it a great experience and capture moments that you can remember for a lifetime.

Columbus Ohio Engagement Session | Michaela and Skyler

Columbus Ohio Engagement Session | Nicole and Jason

I loved this engagement session on how well everything turned out. The extra edit on the Nationwide Archway turned out better than I could imagine. We started the day off at the Scioto Mile fountain. We then walked around to Cosi to get a few architecture photos. We also had their dogs in a few photos and with a treat in my hand they looked right at the camera. We met back up at sunset for a few additional photos around Nationwide Arena and the archway. Everything turned out great! Congratulations Nicole and Jason!

Boston Common Engagement Session | Laura and Brian

Boston Common Engagement Session

When I first talked to Laura and Brian it was online through Skype. I knew that they live in Boston and I told them I was flying to Boston For another couple’s engagement session. They were thrilled at the fact I could fit them in on Sunday morning when i was going to fly out. I met them at Boston commons and to my surprise from the day before there was no one in the park. It was refreshing to have the park to ourselves. We started at the State House with a cute dancing dip. I had an editor replace the clouds and add a little texture to the photo and it turned out great! We also had the carrousel in the background for a few photos. After Boston Commons we went to Acorn Street for a few photos. After that I wanted to do a few things with my off camera flash to add a little drama and add a little spot light to them. I think everything turned out great. Congratulations Laura and Brian!

Boston Engagement Session | Maria and Justin

This was my first destination engagement session in Boston. I met with Maria and Justin when they were looking for a wedding photographer. I asked Maria and Justin what their favorite city was, they both said Boston. I told them that I can include travel to Boston for their engagement session. Their faces lit up and were very excited. When we got to Boston we met at Boston Commons park. The park was crowded with a few thousand people because it was a beautiful day. I had to improvise and found a few great places that worked perfectly. After walking through the park and taking photos we visited the famous Acorn Street. The street is narrow and covered with very smooth cobble stone or large bedrock stones. I photographed it from the bottom looking up the street. Everything turned out better than I could imagine. We then traveled to the North End and use a few harbor chains for the background. One image that I had to get was the Boston city skyline at sunset. The image that I got was breathtaking and I plan to print it for my next bridal show. Congratulations Maria and Justin on your engagement!

Creekside Engagement Photography | Anna and Andrew

I like shooting engagement photos at Creekside for all their features. Creekside has bridges, concrete paths, waterfalls, woods, and red brick architecture. Anna and Andrew are a sweet couple and fun to work with. We had a post engagement meeting and they loved the photos.  Below are just a few of my favorite images.

Creekside Engagement Session | Cierra and Erik

Cierra won a free engagement session with me and we could not have had the session on a more perfect day. The engagement session was at Creekside in Gahanna. The session went very well and I found a few new angles that I have not tried before. Everything turned out great. Below are just a few of my favorite photos.

Downtown Columbus Ohio Engagement | Kristin and Grant

I had the pleasure to photograph Kristin and Grant's engagement session a few months ago. The overcast sky was great for photos but not a background. Luckily I photographed a few clouds with blue skies the next day and combined them in Photoshop. I'm glad that it looked natural in the end. Congratulations Kristin and Grant on your engagement!
